During the film's pre-production stage, the makers planned to release Brahmotsavam on 21 October 2015, coinciding with the Dusshera festival, and also clashing Ram Charan' Bruce Lee: The Fighter,[83] and Nandamuri Balakrishna's 99th film Dictator.[84] However on early May,[85] the makers planned for a release on Sankranthi (14 January 2016),[86] since Mahesh Babu was busy on the promotions of his film Srimanthudu.[87] On 1 December 2015,[88] the makers announced that the film will be scheduled for a release on the occasion of Ugadi (8 April 2016).[89] But in January 2016,[90] a new release date of 29 April 2016 was announced.[91] In April 2016, the makers planned to push the release date on 6 May,[92] and then to 13 May,[93] until the makers finalized a release on 20 May 2016.[94] In May 2016, the makers officially confirmed its scheduled release date.[95][96]

The story of Brahmotsavam is quite simple and is based on Satyaraj and his joint family. But one among the family, Rao Ramesh is always unhappy with the way he is always under the shadow of Satyaraj. To get even more prominence in the family, he decides to get his daughter(Pranitha) married to Mahesh Babu who is Satyaraj’s son.
